Best Holiday Events in Oklahoma City This December
Nov 25, 2019
This December, active retirees and families can choose from even more options than usual to make great memories. Whether you’re looking for a faith-filled event to inspire you for the new year or a cheery afternoon with hot cocoa and Santa Claus, the city we call “The Big Friendly” has something for you.
Holiday Markets in OKC
You can search for socially responsible gifts crafted by artisans in developing countries at this year’s PAMBE Ghana Global Market, just a 15-minute drive from Grand Tapestry. PAMBE is a great option for those who want to spend their money on ethical purchases, knowing the artisans you support are receiving a fair wage for their work, and proceeds support a Montessori school in northern Ghana.
Browse through an array of items from top vendors in Oklahoma and 20 other states at this Christmas market, happening December 6-8 at the Oklahoma Expo at State Fair Park. Available items include antiques, clothing, jewelry, original art, vintage goods, snacks and seasonal plantings.
Holiday Parties for the Whole Family
Does your family include one or more furry members? Take them to Midtown Mutts Dog Park on December 5 for a tail-wagging good time. It’s a fundraiser for The Midtown Association, so when you get your dog’s photo with Santa or pick up a “puppuccino” your donations will go towards a great cause.
The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s 25th Annual Cowboy Christmas Ball happens December 22 at the Museum (ticket reservations required). Enjoy a buffet, songs, dancing and a visit from Santa.
Holiday Lights & Festivals in OKC
The Chickasaw Cultural Center welcomes visitors daily to its Celebration of Lights, Festival of Trees and Children’s Holiday Movie Series, all happening in December. The center is located about a 90-minute drive from our luxury apartments, but the events – and the center itself – are well worth the drive.
The largest animated lights display in a five-state region, the Midwest City Holiday Lights Spectacular will have more than a million lights will be twinkling over a 1.5-mile section of the Joe B. Barnes Regional Park. If you’re a lover of holiday lights, you won’t want to miss it.

You can use the Downtown in December website to help plan your festivities this year. Choose from events such as Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, African Children’s Choir at First Church OKC, Small Business Saturday, American Banjo Museum Candy Cane Christmas and Little Willie’s Triple Dog Dare.
This event welcomes families to enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus and breakfast with Santa weekly on Fridays and Saturdays through December 21. The event is held at the Artesian Hotel, Casino and Spa. On Friday and Saturday evenings, you can also ride through town in a horse-drawn carriage for a tour of the city’s lights. Guests may choose to round out the evening by partaking of complimentary cookies and milk with Santa in the hotel lobby. And, if that isn’t enough, the hotel will have a real reindeer on Dec. 14 and 21. Come by for a photo with your grandchildren.
